Marie Larivière

Marie Larivière wants a government that listens to citizens, that is proactive on environmental issues, and that will put the well-being of its citizens at the center of all its decisions.

Marie is originally from the Montreal region and comes mainly from the education sector, where her varied background has led her to hold several positions in the public service. She holds a Master’s in Education and Leadership from the University of Victoria in British Columbia where she taught in the French immersion program for over ten years before coming to settle in New Brunswick. Marie settled in the Chaleur region with her military spouse, and immediately began to integrate into her new community.

She joined the advisory committee of the community development fund of the Caisse populaire Les Fondateurs and became a volunteer member of the board of directors of the La Villa Sormany nursing home in Robertville. She also organized a petition to create an advisory committee for the local service district (LSD) of Beresford in which she resides. At a public meeting, she was elected to sit on this committee and was appointed chair by her peers.

Marie worked in the public service in Bathurst first as an advisor responsible for human resources in district 1 of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure then as a project manager in talent recruitment at Opportunities New Brunswick. Subsequently, she was responsible for hiring staff for the five campuses of the New Brunswick Community College.

Her professional experience and her volunteer work have given her a great understanding of the challenges and issues that the Restigouche-Chaleur riding must face, not to mention that she is familiar with the functioning of several important provincial ministries.

For the past few years, Marie has been worried about the future of her region. Like many, she often voted for the lesser of two evils in the past few elections. This is no longer enough for her. She wants a government that listens to citizens, that is proactive on environmental issues, and that will put the well-being of its citizens at the center of all its decisions. The vision of the Green Party is aligned with her core values and gives her hope for the future. This is why Marie chose the Green Party and became a candidate to represent Restigouche-Chaleur in the next election.
